Publishing - How it Works

✍️ How It Works: Publishing with Lobotomy Press

Whether you're bringing your first book to life or need help polishing a manuscript, here's how the publishing process works when you team up with me:

1. 📨 Reach Out

Start by sending a message through my contact form or email me directly. Share a quick description of your project—what it is, where it's at, and what kind of support you're looking for (editing, formatting, publishing help, or the full works).

You'll receive a no-pressure, free estimate, which includes:

  • A review of up to 5 sample pages
  • A chance to ask questions and get clarity before committing
  • A supportive, judgment-free response—always

2. 📋 Custom Quote & Timeline

After reviewing your sample, I’ll send a personalized quote outlining:

  • Exactly which services you’ll receive
  • A clear timeline with milestones
  • Transparent pricing—no hidden fees or surprises

3. ✂️ Editing & Formatting Begins

Once we’re ready to go, I get to work. Whether it’s line editing, copyediting, or formatting for print and digital, I’ll work closely with your words to make sure your voice stays intact.
Depending on the service, you’ll receive:

  • Tracked changes and margin notes
  • A clean, final version
  • Professionally formatted files for print-on-demand or ebook publishing
I keep communication open throughout so you’re never left wondering where things stand.

4. 🔁 Review & Revisions

You’ll have time to go over the edits or layout and request any tweaks or clarifications. This is your book—I’m just here to help it shine. We’ll collaborate to make sure you’re fully happy before moving on.

5. 📦 Final Delivery

You’ll receive polished, ready-to-use files in the formats you need—whether that’s a clean Word doc, a print-ready PDF, or digital export files for KDP.
Need help uploading or navigating your publishing platform? I’m happy to guide you through the final steps too.
